Why Choose a board certified plastic surgeon?

Becoming a board certified plastic surgeon by the American Board of Plastic Surgery is strenuous. Board certification requires applicants to have a minimum of 6 years of surgical training and experience following medical school, three of which must be in plastic surgery. The ABPS is the largest plastic surgery certification organization in the world. It represents about 95% of the board certified plastic surgeons in the United States. There are strict requirements on continued education to ensure surgeons are fully current on issues relating to patient safety as well as the latest surgical innovations. Those surgeons passing the requirements are uniquely qualified to skillfully perform all aspects of reconstructive and cosmetic surgery. In addition, board certified plastic surgeons have the proper training and experience to offer their patients the entire scope of cosmetic procedures.
