Tummy Tuck

Tummy tuck surgery removes excess skin and tightens muscles for a contoured, natural result.

Tummy Tuck

Overview

Diet and exercise can only do so much. After pregnancy, weight loss, or simply with age, the abdominal skin can become loose and the underlying muscles separated. A tummy tuck (abdominoplasty) addresses both — removing excess skin and tightening the abdominal wall for a flatter, firmer midsection.

Dr. Cassileth performs tummy tucks with careful attention to incision placement and natural contouring, ensuring results that look good both in and out of clothes.

Who it's for

The right candidate.

  • Women and men with loose, excess abdominal skin
  • Patients with separated abdominal muscles (diastasis recti)
  • Women whose bodies have changed after pregnancy
  • Patients who have lost significant weight

Technique

How it's done.

Technique details for this procedure are documented during your consultation. Dr. Cassileth and her team walk through the surgical approach, expected outcomes, and recovery so you understand exactly what to expect before anything is scheduled.

What to expect

From consultation to recovery.

Before Surgery

  1. Consultation — Evaluate skin laxity, muscle separation, and goals.
  2. Surgical plan — Full, mini, or extended tummy tuck based on your needs.

During Surgery

  1. Incision — Placed low across the abdomen, hidden by underwear or swimwear.
  2. Muscle repair — Separated muscles sutured back together.
  3. Skin removal — Excess skin removed, remaining skin tightened.
  4. Liposuction — Often combined to improve contour.

After Surgery

  1. Recovery — Walking encouraged immediately. Most return to desk work in 2 weeks.
  2. Activity — Full exercise resumes at 6 weeks.
  3. Final results — Swelling subsides over 3–6 months.

“Dr Cassileth and her amazing staff, office, and colleagues are outstanding. I spent over a decade trying to accept a body with scars and extra skin. There was no pressure to go forward with surgery, she gave less Invasive options, and answers all questions. The surgery, anesthesiologist, abs nursing staff at the surgery center were also amazing. Plastic surgery is a big decision and everyone should get this amazing care.”

Tummy tuck is considered cosmetic and not typically covered by insurance. Muscle repair for functional reasons may have partial coverage in some cases.
