Hyaluronic acid and collagen are important for smooth, resilient, and well-supported skin that looks youthful and plump. The amount of these substances found in the skin diminishes with aging, which leads to the loss of volume and elasticity. This can cause the gradual development of facial creases and a shift in facial contours, creating a tired, aged-looking appearance.

Dr. Kelly Killeen is not just an outstanding surgeon and artist, she is also an angel. I had 15+ surgeries to correct an ongoing problem for last 10 years, numerous super-famous doctors worked on me, in different parts of the world, including Geneva, Berlin, etc.. So by the time I got into Dr. Kelly's hands the words "total mess" don't even begin to describe the actual condition of what used to be my breasts. Dr. Killeen, just as regular angel performed a miracle and made everything good again. I love you. There is also nurse Dee who is just incredible human being, here level of compassion, love and care is truly rare. Last but not the list there is a Brit called Jade - she is so beautiful, funny and totally awesome, I will find a reason to come again for some facial peeling or something else simple just to see you guys! I am so blessed to have met these beautiful people, they maybe just part of exceptional medical team, but in my heart they will always be my friends...
With Juvederm, an FDA-approved hyaluronic acid dermal filler, our Los Angeles-based injectors at Cassileth Plastic Surgery and Skin Care can offer a “liquid facelift”, smoothing the skin and restoring a more youthful look. 1 Juvederm injectable gel can also achieve subtle and natural-looking lip enhancement.
The ease of treatments, consistent results, and anti-aging benefits have made Juvederm the top-selling filler collection in the world.2 The Juvederm family of injectable fillers use patented formulations with molecules of different weights cross linked to create a stable gel that binds to water for improved moisturization and hydration. This variety allows our master injectors to select the filler that is specifically designed for your area of concern.
There are five different fillers in the collection made by Allergan: Juvederm Voluma XC®, Juvederm Ultra XC®, Voluma®, Volbella®, and Juvederm Vollure™. Our trained and experienced injectors focus on tailoring each session to the patient. During your consultation, the injector will discuss your beauty goals and provide options to address areas you would like to see rejuvenated. This customized approach is key to achieving a look that is beautiful, natural, and long lasting. There are three main areas Juvederm fillers address:
With collagen loss comes flattened or hollowed cheeks. This loss of defined contours in the midface also translates into less structural support for facial tissues, which migrate downward and create jawline-softening jowls. Voluma restores the midface contours, replacing previously lost volume with results that can last for up to two years.
Aging skin typically develops lines in specific general areas, such as between and around the nose and mouth. Juvederm XC and Vollure "fill in" these moderate to severe facial wrinkles and creases, such as nasolabial folds also known as smile lines, for a smoother look that lasts up to 18 months.
Some people are born with naturally thin lips. Others have full lips that thin out as time robs them of collagen and hyaluronic acid. Juvederm Ultra XC and Volbella are ideal for subtle lip augmentation that last up to a year. Depending on your aesthetic goals, subtle enhancement or full enhancement is possible. These fillers can also address "lipstick lines," which are the vertical lip lines that form around the mouth.
Although Juvederm injections are often described as small pinches, the various formulas contain lidocaine, a numbing agent. This anesthetic reduces sensitivity in the treatment area for a more comfortable session.
The total number of injections, as well as the length of the appointment, will depend on the areas being treated, the degree of treatment desired, and other factors. Generally, the sessions are brief—taking only the time of a typical "lunch hour."
There is no downtime after Juvederm treatments, however patients can expect common side effects such as mild swelling, redness, and bruising at the injection site for a short while after their treatment.3 Once these temporary issues resolve, the resulting smooth skin, lifted contours, and enhanced lips will be visible. We advise all our patients to avoid blood-thinning agents like Ibuprofen and Aspirin for 10 days prior to their treatment to avoid excessive bruising.
Good candidates for Juvederm treatment are individuals looking for non-surgical facial rejuvenation. This can include correcting fine lines and wrinkles, restoring lost volume, improving facial contours, and/or lip enhancement.
The Cassileth Plastic Surgery and Skin Care team wants every patient to get the best, most personalized care possible. We offer multiple dermal fillers—including Restylane®, Radiesse®, and Sculptra®—to ensure a wide range of treatment options for a variety of patient needs and goals. As a clear gel filler, Juvederm works well on creases and contour changes that result from the natural aging process, while BOTOX® is more appropriate for wrinkles that appear as facial muscles contract and relax repeatedly over the years. Fine lines and spots can be addressed with laser skin resurfacing and chemical peels.
